URSULA CATAAN (Betty) was last seen playing the role of Sofia in Two Sisters and a Piano (Promethean Theatre). She has performed Off-Broadway in Havana Bourgeois (59E59); IPO and Between the Legs of God (The Brick); All For Love (Center Stage); Wasps: or the buzz buzz in your eardrum and Roadicide (part of The Living Room Festival -HERE). Regional theatre credits include originating the role of Marela in Nilo Cruz's Pulitzer Prize-winning Anna in the Tropics at New Theatre; Walnut Street Theatre, Cleveland Playhouse, Coconut Grove Playhouse, The Kitchen Theatre, Mosaic Theatre, Colony Theatre and The Wheeling Symphony. Ms. Cataan earned a BFA from Carnegie Mellon and is a member of the Prospect Theatre Company in NYC and NJ REP.
HOWARD ELFMAN (Henry Morganthau/Actor) recently enjoyed an extended run of Brooklyn Boy at the Olney Theatre Center playing Manny Weis (for which he received a Carbonell Award Nomination in the 2006 GableStage production). Last year, Howard played Reb Saunders in the critically acclaimed production of The Chosen at the Hippodrome Theatre in Gainesville, FL, Porter in Deathtrap at the Maltz in Jupiter, FL, and was featured in the world premiere of Bluish at The Alliance Theatre in Atlanta. A transplanted Chicagoan now based in Ft. Lauderdale, he has appeared in many top-rated theatres across the country. Among favorite roles are the Old Man in Fool For Love, Judge Brack in Hedda Gabler, Boolie in Driving Miss Daisy, Mr. Cobb in Cobb, Herman Lewis in Mixed Emotions, Flo Ziegfeld in Funny Girl and Henry Ford in Camping With Henry and Tom. Film and TV credits include Each Time I Kill, A Day in the Country, Raw Deal, Rent A Cop, The Untouchables, Aaron Spelling's Safe Harbor and the soon-to-be aired HBO film Recount, playing Supreme Court Justice Breyer and starring Kevin Spacey. Howard is a proud member of AEA, SAG and AFTRA, as well as Georgia's happy husband.
SCOTT GENN (Samuel Merlin/John Pehle/ Emanuel Cellar) is happy as a pig in doo-doo to be at GableStage for another go-round with one of his favorite directors, Joe Adler. Audiences may remember him as Brendan in last season's Lieutenant of Inishmore, and possibly from Smut, in which he played Mario, the lady-slapping cop. He was last seen as Derek in Mister Beast at the Mad Cat Theatre Company, where he proudly resides as a company member. He would like to give thanks, praise, shout-outs and what-have-yous to Mom and Dad, Joe, Paul, Durks, Dubbs, V., Cole, Fabby and most of all, Brooke.
JOEL KOLKER (Rabbi Stephen Wise) is excited to return to Gablestage where he was last seen as Major Potter in Arms and the Man. Other roles performed with Joe Adler are Ricky Roma in Glengarry, Glenross, Jerry Rath in The Root and Richard Landau in Cold Storage. He was in several episodes of Miami Vice and appeared in the film Cape Fear. Joanne, you are amazing!
WAYNE LeGETTE (Breckenridge Long/Actor) comes to GableStage directly from playing Harold in The Full Monty at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. He has previously appeared at GableStage in Adam Baum and the Jew Movie and Arms and the Man, and also worked with Joe Adler on The Woman in Black at New Theatre and in the film Liberty Brief. Recently, Wayne appeared at the Actors' Playhouse in I Love You Because and Moonlight and Magnolias, at the New Vista Theatre in The Rise of David Levinsky, and in the operas Rumpelstiltskin and Papageno with the Florida Grand Opera. JOHN MANZELLI (Peter Bergson) is thrilled to be making his GableStage debut. A South Florida native, his regional roles include Richard III at The Illinois Shakespeare Festival, Fully Committed (one-man show) in MS and NJ and Pompey in Anthony & Cleopatra in NYC. Since returning after 5 years in NY, he has performed at New Theater (For Better) and The Inside Out, served on the faculty of the New World School of the Arts and is a founding member of The Naked Stage Company (co-starring in The Lonesome West and directing Romeo & Juliet). He also has choreographed fight sequences for GableStage, The Mosaic Theater, City Theater, Naked Stage) and New Theatre's Shakespeare & Friends. John has his MFA from Illinois State University, is an acclaimed fight director, and a member of the Society of American Fight Directors and Actors' Equity Association. Special thanks to his wife Jennifer without whom, none of these things would be possible.
JESSICA K. PETERSON (Laura/Theresa) returns to GableStage (Smut) having just completed Hamlet at American Stage, St. Petersburg. Other recent credits include The Glass Menagerie (Blowing Rock Stage, NC), Suddenly Last Summer (American Stage), the inaugural Voices At The River (African-American and Latino playwright-in-residence festival at Arkansas Rep) and Deathtrap (Maltz-Jupiter Theatre). Favorites include Frozen and Anna In The Tropics (Hippodrome Theatre, Gainesville) Dinner With Friends (Playmakers' Rep, NC), The Music Lesson (Dorset Theatre Festival, VT and Florida Stage, Carbonell Award for Best Actress); Hysteria and A Park In Our House (Florida Stage, Carbonell Nominations for both), How I Learned To Drive (Caldwell Theatre, Carbonell Nomination) and Fort Chaffee (Arkansas Rep). KEVIN REILLEY (FDR, Ben Hecht) may be remembered for a number of GableStage productions, including Side Man, Citizen Tom Paine, Diary of Anne Frank, A Bad Friend, The Pillowman and Fahrenheit 451. Since last seen on this stage, he has appeared in Mosaic Theatre's productions of Glengarry Glen Ross and Dirty Story, Promethean Theatre's A Number, Broward Stage Door's Visiting Mr. Green and Over the River and Through the Woods, and in New Theatre's For Better. Kevin was the recipient of the 2001 Curtain Up Supporting Actor Award for his performance in Mad Cat Theatre's Portrait. He feels blessed for the opportunity to work again with Joe and this august company of players and serves on their National Council.
GREGG WEINER (Officer/Samuel Rosenman/Actor) is thrilled to return to GableStage, where you may have see him as Tupolski in the 2007 Carbonell Award-winning The Pillowman. Most recently he appeared in West Palm Beach in Palm Beach Dramaworks' production of The Fourth Wall. Gregg currently resides in New York City. In his free time, he dabbles in film, TV and voice-over work. He is proud member of Actor's Equity. Thanks to Joe for bringing him back down to work in Miami, and to the cast and crew for their hard work... and to Julie, Lola, Roxy and Henry ~ his love and thanks for allowing him to pursue what he loves the most.
