Through programming that places empathy, literacy, and civic engagement at the center, our education department now reaches nearly 10,000 students annually.
Launched in 2026, A Dose of Fun! is GableStage’s newest education and outreach program.
Through puppetry, music, and interactive play, this delightful program delivers season-long theatrical experiences to pediatric patients at Nicklaus and Holtz Children’s Hospitals.

At Holtz Children’s Hospital, where many young patients are confined to their rooms, the program travels bedside-to-bedside bringing performances directly to children and families who are unable to leave their rooms.
A Dose of Fun! also includes interactive in-room participation and puppet-making kits, allowing children to continue engaging creatively beyond the performance itself.
Presented by the Carol Marie Weber Family Foundation, A Dose of Fun! reflects GableStage’s belief that access to the arts should extend beyond traditional theatre spaces and into the places where joy, imagination, and human connection are needed most.
Now in its 14th season, this long-standing partnership with Florida International University brings 45-minute contemporary adaptations of Shakespeare’s classics to Miami-Dade classrooms.
Featuring a cast of six, the 2027 tour will include 26 performances of Henry IV, Parts 1 & 2 to over 20 public schools, and with public performances at FIU (Feb 13) and GableStage (Mar 22).

Created in 2021, IGNITE offers serious high school theatre students an inside look at the art and craft of professional theatre-making.
Now in residence at Miami Arts Studio, the program engages 60 junior and senior thespians. They study each script from the season, attend every mainstage production, and participate in hands-on workshops led by a diverse array of theatre artists and craftspeople.
Previous school partners have included New World School of the Arts and Coral Reef Senior High.
Offered in partnership with Miami-Dade County’s Cultural Passport Program, these daytime performances give hundreds of high school students access to mainstage productions, followed by talkbacks with the cast and creative team.
This season features matinees of True Art on December 4 and 11, with over 300 expected to attended.
This popular program invites students and educators to attend productions free of charge by arriving 45 minutes prior to curtain and filling any open, unsold seat.
By eliminating barriers to entry, we help cultivate lifelong engagement with the art form.
